The first barrier, he did scratch his head, you can see it in the video, and yes, might have to take the new barrier out and sand down the sharp edges, thanks for the suggestion.

You might want to add some stress coat for the scratch on the mask of the male. The male seems to be much to big for the female. Petrochromis are best kept in groups of 12 or more to reduce some of the aggression.

I honestly think she's an F1 myself, I mean if she was an F0 then she should be as big as the male right? And after finding out that Red Bulus stoped shipment to the USA in 2016 makes me wonder some more...oh well, at least I didn't pay full premium on her. I'm tempted to grab some more females, its that or a new Trek Remedy 8 mountain bike...decisions, decisions...

Not necessarily on the size question. F0 females would come in a variety of sizes, mostly 4+"'s but if there has truly been none imported in over a yr she was either very small or you have an F1. Private sale? She looks nice still and the male is a beauty 👍

With winter approaching you may get more enjoyment out of more RB females...unless of course you live somewhere where you can ride year round...if not maybe by spring you'll have enough fry to sell to buy your bike? 😉

Don't I wish! I went yesterday to look at some used tanks at a local retailer and they were older than the ones I have now sadly, if I get a good price offer on the 240 I might grab it for bragging rights..lol. Anyway the red Bulus have adjusted well, swim out in the open constantly and now recognze me as the guy with the good shrimpmix!!

October update. Im currently trying to FATTEN up the female. Got some New Life Spectrum FLOAT 3MM pellets that she's gobbling up. The male hates it.. (So far) he's only consuming my shrimpmix at the moment. I started using Seachems Cichlid Trace Elements to see if that will make them horny. The male stays on his side and the female to hers. I'm tempted to remove the barrier and leave a flower pot there with holes just big enough for her but the male is just to aggressive at the moment. Happy to see them "wag their tails" when they see me. Gotta love cichlids.

Yeah man, it's expensive breeding Petros. They need a lot of protein to get into spawning condition. Back off a little bit and they don't produce much. Still working on getting my Moshi back into condition.
