 the eggs themselves will probably good , it's usually the males that take a little bit longer to mature to get the spawns right. I've had females laying as early as 8 to 9 months old but the males not getting it right until 12 to 18 months old. In that in-between phase you'll see nice golden eggs that will turn half white or clear within the first   three or four days of them being laid. These are obviously unviable. Your males will catch up and you'll have a red rainbow fry making machine colony in no time :-)

My method for getting fry was either scoop the F and put her in a breeder or when I was less enthusiastic about it I had put some landscaping rocks about the size of jaw breakers along the back and sides so most of the fry would survive.
