Wet dry over flow and drip tray questions .

I have a 8ft 250 gallon tank with over flow at one end and large wet dry below probably 50 gallons. I let my Petrochromis spit in the tank and they like to get chased and end up in the over flow I have found 10-15 before .... then they always end up in the drip tray after few days dead.....how can I keep them from being able to get into the over flow? Next issue is the drip trays they get expensive to keep buying quality tray pads and they become dirty in a matter of days what’s everyone doing to make the cleaning and replacement of drip tray material easier ? I have a EHEIM 2262 at the other end and it’s a work horse!

You could take some plastic screen and put it over the teeth on the overflow. You would need to pay attention to the screens. If they get clogged, it could be very bad.

For my wet dry system I used the pink filter which can last about a year. (roll) I now used the above filter pads. I bought 3 different pores size. PPI = pores per inch: 45 PPI = very fine; 30 PPI = fine; 20 PPI = medium; 10 PPI = coarse

Plenty of sizes/ & PPI to fit your filtration. Remove, take outside,use the garden hose and blast away the dirty filter.... and reuse.

I would not suggest putting anything over/in front of the overflow box. I've tried this and found it slowed the flow of current and was not good. I found myself always netting smaller tropheus out of my overflow box so I finally just moved all the small ones to a new tank with no overflow. Good luck
