Conditioning female Tropheus (between batches)

Hey guys, 

I was wondering once a female has spawned how long does it normally take for her to be in breeding condition again (ready to spawn), also if possible it would nice to know this with females that are stripped early and those that are left to hold full term, cheers Ben.

In my experience 3-4 weeks, that was with F1 though. I'm sure others will chime in!

African cichlid mouth brooding females that are fed properly and are willing to eat bits of food hear and there while holding are typically good to spawn every 30-45 days from my research.

My old Kiriza group were like rabbits for a while! lol

I didn't even strip them and ended up with lots of young in the main tank, maybe because they were left to do it naturally and took in some food over the course of holding meant they didn't lose as much condition.

Be interesting to compare to the Bembas once they get old enough.

Funny you say that jump, the importer I use (Mikes Rifts) has a group of Kiriza and he does the same, just lets them be and the tank if full of fry and juvies, if I remember right he has 1 M, 15 F and countless fry/juvies.

I never strip my brichardi, just leave the females in and I have problem with getting rid of all the fry. Am actually thinking about selling them because of this. I get like 60 fry every three months, I once had 10 females holding in a group of 23 F1, not selected for sex ratio. Might want to add some predators to solve this problem, had one Lepidiolamprologus before but this didn't change anything. Is brichardi more productive than others?
