Makes you think... A lot of money involved on a Tag of being Wild Caught. Truly, a nice healthy, vibrant and fertile fish is all I want. I think we get too involved with Wild Caught but demand effects supply and supply effect demand.

As usual I'll be 100% honest. The only reason that I went with wild caught was to get the best genetics I could get. I started off with F1 and it seemed that the more I watched them, the less confident I was that they were F1. Especially after hearing stories of the sources that they came from. I started hearing stories of many people selling F1's getting from pond raised groups right here in the US. Mainly Florida. or just flat out lying about it. I do realize that this can happen with wild as well. But I feel that upon researching sources it's a lot less common. Especially if you get to know the importer and their exporters. This I why I've sold off colonies that I was sold as wild as I learned that the importer wasn't an honest one and replaced them with trustworthy importers stock.

It came down to quality. If I wanted to produce the best quality fry I could and have that quality on my name, I wanted to start with potentially the best genetics I could find. And that for me was Wild Caught. I know that it can be a bit challenging getting them to an optimal condition for spawning and there are losses but this was a chance that I was willing to take to ensure that I was providing quality fry. Healthy fry. I knew what I wanted. So I wanted to ensure that's what people were getting from. The Fry that I would want to have.
