What kind of group to get...

I have tried my hand with Ikola with success in the past; however, as striking as they are I want to try something else. I will have a black background in my 90 gallon.  Any thoughts on what kind of group to get?  I don't know if I can find Muragos or Moops.  I have thought about Bulus, but do they color up pretty uniform...or only a few of them.  I also thought about Lufubu, Illangi, Kasanga.  Do you think I should go with another Sp. Black or go with yellows or reds?  Any thoughts are welcome...money is not as important as aesthetics...availability does seem to be an issue though.

I Personally think that Bulu Point seem to show the most consistent in their coloration on a black background. My Bulu Point are pretty consistent in coloration as well. But other Moorii variants not as Much. Some Brichardi show well on a black background. Like Ulwile. Of course, yes that's what I have. But I have them for a reason.

I also like some sort of blue backgrounds. They yield a brighter environment and allow optimal display of Tropheus colors. I think that as long as you have bright substrate (Aragonite is best), Rocks and powerful lighting, you will get good color out of most Tropheus.

Andrew, in addition to his advice, was also very humble not to add that he regularly has Bulu point and Mpulungu fry available from some of the best wild groups I have ever sen in 35 years of fish keeping. He also has a stunning group of Murago Tanzania.
I currently have a group of 21 F1 Moops that are from his wilds. They are 2-3" and have already started spawning, though unsuccessfully,  at 10 months of age
If you go to the classifieds section of the forum you can see HD vids of all of his groups. If shipping is required, his shipping technique is also right up there with the best of them.

Which one do you think would look the most uniform in a group on a black background...the moops, species black bulu point, or your murago...are your murago the yellow or green variety.  Those Brichardi are pretty awesome as well...most that i have seen are more brown.  I'm pretty open to suggestion and what you would think...what is available...etc.

Personally I think that the Bulu Point or the Brichardi would show best of the one's you are interested in on the black ground...I would go with the bulu's of the 2 myself

I agree with Danny. I'm not a big fan of Black though. But as long as you have a bright tank ith lighting rocks and Substrate you should be good with any.

I'll be 100% honest about which one. I don't normally recommend a certain variant as I myself can't decide on which one I like the best. Hence whey I have 7 variants! lol

I can see on most tanks blue is the best way to go for the fish. Although the blue make the fish look better, it is a trade off to me because black hides the equipment.  So maybe I can offset it with some RBG LED's. What species do you have available now for 25 or so?

Yellow fish on the black background really pops, my Ikola are unreal against it.
