cheap fluval fx6/5 sponge filters

i purchases a fx6 of craigslist for 150 that was used on a turtle tank.  I know turtles are extremely dirty so i stripped all sponges, filter media and cleaned the hard casing with a bleach solution.  Fortunately the fx6 came with 3 new sponge filters, unfortunately i still needed 3.

i started looking around a filter sponges and replacement cost are astronomical.  Started looking at alternatives.
i found these on eBay.
other than a slightly different color they look and feel very similar.

I would look into pioree foam... Not sure if that is the correct spelling but that stuff is relatively inexpensive and can be cut from my understanding.

Did you check with our Sponsor "That fish Place" website? They may have a lower price. Worth a try.
