A few weeks ago I bought some Tropheus duboisi online.
A week ago I started noticing one of the fish having bloat symptoms of heavy breathing and stringy feces, hanging out by himself not moving much and not eating. There's also another fish that has a deeply sunken belly that won't eat successfully (will mouth the pellets but eventually spit it out) unless the food I give him has been soaked for a long time and is soft.
I decided to medicate all the fish to get rid of anything they might have.
I treated them for 6 days with Clout, which unfortunately didn't seem to do much, and resulted in the death of that one fish which was breathing heavy. I decided to then to quarantine that fish with the sunken belly, and then treat BOTH tanks with Levamisole.
24 hours later, here’s what they look like. As for the sunken belly one, I figured I’ll try to fatten it up with soft soaked pellets in its own tank.
Here’s a video. I’m pretty new to Tropheus, so can you guys tell by looking at them how healthy they look? Also, any additional advice going forward would be greatly appreciated!
Some more info that might be useful:
-60 gallon tank with Aquaclear 70
-pH from tap is 7.6, the aragonite doesn’t seem to bump the pH up much. I don’t do anything else to the water
-Feeding Omega One Super Color Kelps Sinking Pellets (since they really weren’t into NLS for some reason)
And as a side note, the larger ones are starting to get some coloration, but as you can tell, it’s small and not very noticeable. I’m slightly worried the fish have bad genetics. Does the yellow band develop over a long period of time or does it appear pretty readily once the dots are gone?
