Temperature in fish tank

Hello all- I plan on being on this awesome site everyday now till April 15!! What is the best temperature to keep Tropheus at? I had heard 79-80 is what I have mine at. Wondering what others have!! Thanks rickt

I keep mine at 74-76 Rick...for power consumption reasons mostly...and over the 30+ years I have kept rift lake cichlids I have found it is a good all round temp for health & breeding. When i have encountered sickness that required treatment I pushed it up to 80-82.

That's just me Rick...others keep them at higher temps for sure...before you make your decision and turn everything down maybe wait on a few more of the experienced troph keepers to chime in...most of my years have been with Malawi's and the last 7 trophs have been the majority of what I have kept but not in multiple tanks, just 1 tank.

From what i was told it is good to keep them between 76-78 degrees

I run my tanks about 77-78 for Wilds and fry typically run a little higher to keep their metabolisms running higher.

I keep my Trophs at 77 to 78 degrees with good success in health and breeding activity.
