Diet for Mixed Tank- Tropheus - Synodontis petricola

Hi Guys,

I've been feeding my Tropheus Danichi Veggie Deluxe and it has been working out well. Recently I added a 2x Bristlenose and 5x synodontis petricola ( I really like these guys they are so active and swim so fast at floor level) . Tropheus are greedy little suckers so I'm not sure if the new tennants are getting anything to eat.

Any advice would be helpful!

I would try droppin some veggie wafers down so that the catfish can graze on it atleast the trophs wont be able to eat just like the dainichi...hope this helps g/l!

It's funny that you mention that. I went to the local LFS and got Hakari Algae wafers. I dropped a few in and the Trophs decided to play a game with it. One would grab it and another would try to steal it. It is very entertaining!! Unfortonately, they end up eating it. :-(

I have this exact set up. Just them them pellets, the Synos will be just fine.

The cats will catch on and start feeding with the trophs. Mine are always in the middle of the feeding frenzy or skimming the surface. Or just dump enough food in so the trophs can't eat it all before it hits ground. The cats will eat what's on the ground but so will the trophs. You can try wafers, zucchini etc. but whatever you put in the trophs will attack and devour. So yeah there is no real science to it just feed enough so that everyone gets some...

I know what you mean abou the wafers too. I have a lone petro red bulu in with my trophs which I feed dainichi premium and every so often the trophs will steal one or two of the large pellets, it's like watching a rugby match, it's hilarious!
