Advice needed on New/Backup return pump

Hi guys   , okay currently I have a Deep Blue Sea Triton 5 (5000) at 1350 gph with only about 4-5ft head from display to sump. The tank is 125gal & a 55gal sump.  I have 2 Hydor koralia evo 1150's on a controller in the display & my 5in sponge (from the 75gal) in one section in the sump. 

I've have my Triton for a good 2+ years now & I'm starting to have some impeller issues (there was at one time 2 tiny plant bulbs that had been stuck in there without my knowing! ). I've disassembled the thing, cleaned it well, re-lubed the seals & she's running but every so often for a month or so now I hear this God-awful crunching/grinding like a dish disposal for just a few seconds, then it stops & all is well.  I'm feeling kinda sketchy about it now specially since my little guys are in there so I'm trying to decide the best course of action.

1) buy a new impeller assembly & see if that cures the problem - my only worry here is that those bulbs kept the prop stuck for so long with the motor running that maybe I now have motor issues too??

2) Just grin & bear it and buy a new one then keep this one for an emergency backup?

The tritons are great for a few months, not much beyond that.

The jabeos are a D.C. Pump so they'll be very quiet but they are a cheap D.C. Pump so be prepared for controller issues etc.

Hey Catstoy66,

This is the return pump i'm using on my 90gallon. Tunze Recirculation Pump Silence 1073.060 at 1321 GPH. (It was about $229).

Even though it is titled "Silence", I think it is loud. I'm not sure how loud it is compared to other return pumps, but it is the
only thing that I can hear from the tank setup. I wouldn't recommend this return pump.
