You'll find that many tropheus owners will feed different foods all with success. Some of the popular brands are NLS, Daichini, Omega One and Tropical Spirulina forte. It kind of depends on where you live for availability. I like to keep it simple and only stick to 1 or 2 types of food exclusively. If you do decide to make a switch on food make sure to transition slowly.
Anyway, I feed NLS and Tropical Spirulina forte only because they are readily available to me.
For auto feeders you usually set the time and frequency of when it feeds, so you can just set the autofeeder to feed while you're at work and nothing at night so you can manually feed.
